FG Hands Over CNG Buses to NURTW in Delta

Efforts to ease transportation costs in Delta State received a boost on Wednesday as the Federal Government handed over Compressed Natural Gas-powered buses to the National Union of Road Transport Workers in Asaba.

The buses, delivered through the Nigeria Labour Congress, form part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s intervention measures following the removal of fuel subsidy. Delta State NURTW Secretary-General, Comrade Chukwuemeka Okolo, said the vehicles would be deployed across the state’s three senatorial zones to cushion transport fares.

He noted that the dual-fuel buses, which run on both CNG and petrol, would significantly reduce operating costs for drivers and commuters, while urging residents to continue supporting the current administration’s reforms.

Receiving the buses, caretaker committee chairman Comrade Patrick Okpandu assured that the vehicles would be used strictly for public benefit, as other union leaders praised the initiative and expressed optimism that more buses would be delivered to the state in the near future.
