President Bola Tinubu has ordered security chiefs to take immediate action to end renewed violence in Benue State, where recent reprisal attacks have claimed several lives.

“The latest news of wanton killings in Benue State is very depressing,” Tinubu said. “We must not allow this bloodletting to continue unabated. Enough is now enough.”

Security and intelligence officials, including police and military personnel, have now arrived in the state to coordinate operations aimed at ending the violence.

Benue State has long been a flashpoint for deadly clashes between farmers and herders over land and grazing rights. The latest attacks have heightened fears of renewed cycles of violence in the region.

President Tinubu also called on the Governor of Benue State, Hyacinth Alia, to lead reconciliation efforts between the rival communities. He urged political and community leaders to refrain from inflammatory comments that could further inflame tensions.

He added that all perpetrators of violence, regardless of their affiliations, must be arrested and prosecuted.
