Dore Numa, Unity School Win Big at Ogiame Atuwatse III Quiz & Debate Contest

The 2025 Ogiame Atuwatse III Inter-Collegiate Quiz and Debate Competition wrapped up with Dore Numa College and International Unity School emerging as the overall champions.

Both schools walked away with ₦10 million each after a fierce contest that drew 64 schools from across Delta State. The grand finale took place in Ogunu, within the Warri South Local Government Area.

In the debate category, Dore Numa College edged out Delta Secondary School to take first place, while Ugbokodo Secondary School and Rise Secondary School secured third and fourth places respectively, receiving ₦1 million and ₦500,000. International Unity School won the quiz competition, defeating Word of Faith Schools, who finished second. Bench Hill Schools and Our Saviour School took third and fourth places, rounding out the prizes ranging from ₦2 million to ₦500,000. Meanwhile, Miss Oritsetimeyin Ofesi of Rise International School by also received a ₦2 million prize from the Ruth Gender Foundation, recognizing her as the best female participant.

The event, sponsored by His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III, the Olu of Warri, drew a notable audience, including Chief Dr. Wilson Oley, who represented the monarch, and Pastor Tuoyo Coker, attending on behalf of Prince Collins Edema, Chairman of the CORA Care Foundation and Liaison to NNPCL.

Addressing the finalists, Chief Olley urged students to dedicate themselves fully to their studies and avoid shortcuts, particularly cautioning against internet fraud.

The winners expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Olu of Warri and their teachers for their unwavering support. They encouraged others to persevere and maintain faith.

Principal Samson Emokiniovo Egheneji of Dore Numa College appreciated the organisers of the competition for shining a spotlight on schools that are often overlooked, noting its importance in promoting academic excellence statewide.
