EFCC Declares Ex-Minister Sylva Wanted Over $14.8 Million Fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has placed former Petroleum Minister Timipre Sylva on its wanted list, accusing him of illegally converting nearly $15 million in public funds.

A Lagos State High Court warrant dated November 6, 2025, authorizes the EFCC to pursue Sylva in connection with the alleged conspiracy and misappropriation of $14,859,257. The funds were originally provided by the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) to Atlantic International Refinery and Petrochemical Limited for refinery construction.

Sylva, 61, from Brass Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, is now sought by the anti-graft agency, which has urged the public to report any information regarding his location. Contacts include EFCC offices across major Nigerian cities and the commission’s official hotline and email.
