EFCC Arraigns Mercy Chinwo’s Producer, EeZeeTee, Over Forex, Disclosure Violations
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arraigned gospel music producer Ezekiel Onyedikachi, popularly known as EeZeeTee, on charges relating to unauthorised foreign exchange dealings and failure to disclose financial transactions.
The EFCC dropped earlier allegations of misappropriating funds from former signee and gospel singer Mercy Chinwo. Instead, a revised eight-count charge filed at a Federal High Court in Lagos on Wednesday, May 7, accuses EeZeeTee and his company, EeZee Global Concept Ltd, of engaging in unauthorised forex transactions and failing to report earnings to the Special Control Unit Against Money Laundering (SCUML) between 2022 and 2023.

One charge alleges that in June 2023, EeZeeTee negotiated a $52,895 foreign exchange deal without Central Bank authorisation. Another claims a similar transaction involving $18,775 was carried out without using official channels.
EeZeeTee pleaded not guilty. His lawyer, Chikaosolu Ojukwu (SAN), argued for bail, saying talks were underway to resolve the matter out of court. The EFCC opposed the application, but Justice Chukwujekwu Aneke released the defendant into his lawyer’s custody, with a bail ruling set for 9 May.
Tensions flared outside the courtroom when EFCC officers attempted to rearrest EeZeeTee, but the situation was defused by a senior agency official.
