Early Morning Fire Contained at Igbudu Market, Warri

A fire outbreak in the early hours of Thursday has destroyed parts of the Igbudu Market in Warri South Local Government Area.

The fire, which started around 4:00 a.m, consumed a section of the popular market, with traders reporting the loss of goods worth millions of naira. Firefighters and emergency responders arrived at the scene. The council’s two recently repaired fire trucks were deployed, with personnel from the fire service, security agencies, and residents working together to contain the flames and prevent further spread.

Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Hon. Agbateyiniro Weyinmi Isaac, was on ground at the scene shortly after the incident began, leading efforts to assess the damage and coordinate response actions.

While the exact cause of the fire remains unknown, authorities have promised a thorough investigation to determine the source of the inferno.

This is the second fire incident at Igbudu Market in recent months. A previous outbreak affected the Nupe section of the market, which was later rebuilt by the local government.

Many affected traders have appealed to the government for support.
