Delta Govt Redeploys Sapele Technical College Principal Over Lapses

The Delta State Ministry of Technical Education has ordered the immediate redeployment of the Principal of Sapele Technical College, Mrs. Rosemary Itawansa, following findings from a monitoring exercise at the school.

Officials who visited the institution on January 6, 2026, reported multiple administrative lapses, including the absence of security personnel at the main gate and poor upkeep of the school environment. Activities such as farming and wood processing were also found taking place within the premises.

The ministry said the principal had previously been cautioned but failed to make improvements. Additional concerns included unapproved fees charged to students, weak staff supervision, and irregular handling of NYSC members posted to the school.

Mrs. Itawansa has been reassigned to the ministry’s headquarters in Asaba and instructed to hand over to the most senior teacher. The government said the move reinforces its zero tolerance for misconduct in public institutions.
