Delta Deputy Governor Gifts 115 Students Scholarships

115 undergraduates from various institutions have received scholarships from the Sir Monday Onyeme Foundation in Ika Federal Constituency, Delta state on Saturday, Warri Sentinel understands.

Each recipient will receive a minimum of ₦200,000 following an aptitude test held at Ogbenudein Model Secondary School in Agbor, Ika South Local Government Area, Delta State.

This follows previous aptitude tests in the past two weeks for the Ndokwa/Ukwuani and Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituencies, where 289 and 149 candidates were awarded respectively. In total, 553 candidates have been successful in the Monday Onyeme Foundation’s 2024 Annual Scholarship Scheme for Delta North Senatorial District.

Sir Monday Onyeme, Deputy Governor of Delta State, oversaw the test and addressed the students. He emphasised that the scholarship is merit-based and encouraged candidates to focus on their studies, despite noting that the performance from the Ika Federal Constituency was less impressive compared to other regions.

The Deputy Governor announced that the top-performing candidates would receive additional awards: ₦400,000 for first place, ₦350,000 for second, and ₦300,000 for third. The dates for the cheque presentation will be announced soon.

Mr. Oba Praise Oluchukwu, a medical student from the University of Benin who scored the highest, expressed his gratitude, while Egbuna Ifeoma Divine and Richard Emmanuella Uchechukwu, who tied for second place, also thanked the Deputy Governor and pledged to improve their performance in the future.
