Delta Assembly Recalls Suspended Lawmakers
The Delta State House of Assembly has lifted the suspension imposed on Honourable members Chukwudi Dafe and Oboro Preyor following the completion of their 14-day suspension period.
Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, made the announcement at Tuesday’s plenary session.
The suspension, which was originally enforced due to allegations of gross misconduct, affected Dafe, representing Ukwani Constituency, and Preyor, representing Bomadi Constituency.
Guwor explained that while an investigative committee had been set up to probe the alleged misconduct, the members were recalled after the 14-day suspension period expired. The committee has yet to submit its findings.

The House in other legislative matters granted leave for Majority Leader Hon. Emeka Nwaobi to introduce a bill for the establishment of the Delta State Food Security Agency. The motion to read the bill for the first time was seconded by Hon. Bridget Anyafulu, representing Oshimili South. The second reading has been scheduled for January 28, 2025.
The House also approved a motion from Deputy Speaker Rt. Hon. Arthur Akpowowo to present a bill to repeal the Delta State Waste Management Board Law of 2008 and establish a new waste management system for the state. The motion was seconded by Hon. Matthew Omonade, representing Ughelli North 1, and passed unanimously. The second reading of this bill has also been deferred until January 28, 2025.
