Delta Assembly Backs Oborevwori in Vote of Confidence After State Address
Members of the Delta State House of Assembly have passed a vote of confidence in Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration as it marks its second anniversary.
The resolution was adopted on Wednesday, 28 May, following a motion moved by Deputy Speaker Rt Hon Arthur Akpowowo and seconded by Hon Edafe Emakpor, who represents the Uvwie State Constituency. The vote came shortly after the governor delivered his first state of the state address at the Assembly complex in Asaba.
Lawmakers commended the governor’s leadership, as both visionary and transformative. They also applauded his approach to financial governance and investments in human capital development across the state.
In his address, Governor Oborevwori outlined a range of completed and ongoing infrastructure projects. These include the 46-kilometre dualisation of the Ughelli–Asaba Road (Sectors C1 and C2), construction of the Isheagu–Ewulu Road, and the first phase of a bridge project.
He also cited the rehabilitation of several roads, including Mariere Street in Boji-Boji Agbor, the Kwale–Beneku Bridge and access roads, and roads in Sapele such as Orhorhor, Chechester, and Benjamin Oseregbaje streets.
Specific projects mentioned include repairs on Central Hospital Road and connecting routes to Police Command Roads, General Hospital Road, and the Esisi Road corridor leading to Nana College.
Further works include upgrades around Otovwodo junction in Ughelli, and multiple road improvements in Effurun, Ekpan, and Warri. Road construction and rehabilitation also extend to Kokori, Abraka, Oghara, Owerre Olubor, Akumazi, Boji-Boji Owa, Ellu Town, and Okpolo-Enhwe–Uwheru.
Governor Oborevwori reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to infrastructure development and economic growth across the state.
