Delta APC Backs Okowa’s Arrest, Calls For Wider Investigation
The Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed support for the recent arrest of former Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, calling it a meaningful step in the country’s fight against corruption.
In a statement signed by State Publicity Secretary Valentine Onojeghuo and made available to journalists in Asaba, the APC commended the Federal Government’s actions and urged the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to extend its investigations to other former governors and public officials suspected of financial misconduct.
The party stated that Okowa’s arrest reflects the current administration’s strong commitment to tackling financial mismanagement and corruption at both state and national levels.
Okowa, who served as Governor of Delta State from 2015 to 2023, was apprehended by the EFCC over allegations of embezzlement and misuse of public funds during his tenure, reportedly involving questionable financial transactions and contracts awarded during his administration.
