Court Bans Media Interviews in Akpoti-Uduaghan’s Case
Justice Binta Fatima Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja has issued a directive barring all parties involved in the ongoing suit filed by suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan against the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, and three other defendants from granting press interviews or streaming court proceedings on social media.

The order, handed down on Friday, came after a complaint was raised by Kehinde Ogunwumiju (SAN), the lawyer representing Akpabio. Ogunwumiju accused Akpoti-Uduaghan of granting several television interviews on matters related to the case, which is currently pending before the court.
In a brief ruling, Justice Nyako emphasized that there shall be no press interviews conducted by any of the parties or their lawyers regarding the case. The judge also prohibited the live streaming of court proceedings on social media, in an effort to maintain the integrity of the ongoing legal process.
The court’s decision is expected to restrict public commentary on the matter as it continues through the judicial system.
