Contractor Assures Oborevwori Timely Delivery on Ugbolu-Okpanam Road Project

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori

Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State has conducted on-site inspections of the ongoing Ugbolu–Okpanam and Phase 2 of the Oko-Anala – Oko-Ogbele – Oko-Odifili Road projects, reiterating his administration’s unwavering commitment to quality and timely delivery. During the assessment, he emphasized that personal oversight is crucial, as follow-up actions are just as important as groundbreaking ceremonies. He assured residents that the government is prioritizing inclusive development by extending infrastructure to both urban and rural communities.

At the 12.12-kilometre Ugbolu–Okpanam Road project, Governor Oborevwori disclosed that while the original timeline for completion was set at 18 months, the contractor has now assured the state government of finishing the work by December this year. He explained that the project features extensive concrete drainage systems designed to combat the severe flooding that has long plagued the area, which will redirect water safely to the river and provide lasting relief to residents.

During the inspection of the Phase 2 Oko-Anala – Oko-Ogbele – Oko-Odifili Road, the Governor addressed the contractor’s timeline, revealing that the initial projection for completion was August 2027—a deadline he firmly rejected. He stressed that with the government having fully mobilized and provided funds, there are no financial constraints, and he expects the contractor to significantly accelerate work to finish the project by the end of this year or early next year.

Governor Oborevwori made it clear that adherence to timelines and uncompromising quality are the standards for future engagements, warning that contractors seeking more jobs from his administration must deliver on schedule. He reaffirmed that his government remains deliberate about balanced growth and will continue to monitor projects closely to ensure they meet specifications and serve the needs of the people effectively.
