Julius Berger Confirms March Completion of Warri/Effurun Flyovers

The Project Manager of Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, Mr Thomas Haug, has confirmed that the three flyovers being constructed along the Warri/Effurun routes will be completed by the end of March. The projects, awarded by the Delta State Government at a cost of N78 billion, include a flyover at the Enerhen/Effurun axis which is now approximately 97 percent finished. Haug, however, noted that some associated road works would be finalised at a later date and declined to give a specific commissioning date, stating that the government would make the information public in due course.

Providing updates on other projects, Haug disclosed that work on the Osubi Road project is progressing rapidly and remains within the contractual timeline. He noted that efforts have been accelerated ahead of the impending rainy season, which typically brings heavy rainfall to the region. He also described progress on the Ughelli and Agbor flyover projects as impressive, revealing that while piling works are ongoing at Uromi Junction for the Agbor flyover, construction at Otovwodo in Ughelli is advancing steadily.

Haug attributed the smooth execution of the projects to the strong cooperation of host communities and consistent funding from the Delta State Government. In a related remark, the company’s Regional Manager for South and East, Mr Friedrich Wiesa, stated that the firm is transforming challenges into tangible opportunities through its work in the state.

Local residents and business owners have expressed satisfaction with the pace of construction, noting that the projects are already reshaping the neighbourhood and boosting economic activities. A commercial taxi driver, Mr Joseph Eseoghene, and an accountant, Mr Jonathan Ojarikre, both residents of Enerhen, commended Julius Berger for its commitment to speedy delivery, adding that decades of poor road infrastructure had hindered communal interaction and business growth. They expressed optimism about the impending commissioning and the overall transformation the projects would bring to the community and the state.
