Community Clarifies Role in Warri-Egbokodo Robbery Arrest

EDAFE BRIGHT PHILP AMANORITSEWOR

Egbokodo Itsekiri Community in Warri South LGA of Delta State has clarified that a suspected armed robber, Emmanuel Solomon, was apprehended by residents and handed over to the Police on March 9, three weeks before the police publicly confirmed the arrest.

Police spokesperson Bright Edafe, in a statement released on March 26, said operatives of the ‘A’ Division foiled an attempted robbery in the community and recovered two guns and live cartridges from the suspect.

However, the community, in a notice signed by the chairman, Egbokodo Itsekiri Youth Development Association, Philip Amanoritsewor, stated that the suspect was caught by residents while attempting to rob a family and was immediately handed over to the Police.

Backed with videos of the suspect (who reportedly came from Effurun/Ekpan axis) seated on the floor, shirtless, with both hands bound with a piece of cloth, the community disclosed that one of his accomplices escaped.

Reaffirming its zero-tolerance stance on crime and urging residents to remain law-abiding, the community said that it was monitoring the case to see the outcome.
