Yemi Oyeniyi Takes Over as Delta New Commissioner of Police

CP Oyeniyi Yemi John has officially assumed duty as the 24th Commissioner of Police in Delta State, taking over from CP Aina Adesola.

The new police boss, born on March 5, 1969, hails from Oyun Local Government Area of Kwara State. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria (1991), and recently obtained a Master’s degree in Public Order and Information Management from the University of Uyo in 2023.

His academic profile also includes a Diploma in Personnel Management from the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management, Lagos (2019), and a Diploma in Community Policing from the Police Staff College, Jos.

CP Oyeniyi joined the Nigeria Police Force on June 10, 1994, as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) under Course 4 at the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, Kano State. After completing his training, he was deployed to the Akwa Ibom State Command in 1996.

Over the years, he has served in various strategic roles across operations, administration, investigation, and training within the Force.

With more than two decades of progressive policing experience, CP Oyeniyi is regarded as a seasoned and accomplished officer, expected to bring his wealth of expertise to bear in strengthening security operations in Delta State.
