Chaos at Rivers Govt House as Aides Protest Unpaid Salaries
Unconfirmed reports suggest choas at the Rivers State Government House following a protest by aides of Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd) over unpaid allowances.
While details remain sketchy, the tension reportedly led to shouting match between some aides and security personnel, accusing the sole administrator of trying to leave office without settling their entitlements.
Sources inside the Government House say the Chief of Staff had to step in and calm everyone down, promising that the payment issues would be resolved soon.
This comes as suspended Rivers State governor, Siminialayi Fubara and members of the State House of Assembly are expected to resume on Thursday, September 18th 2025 after a six-month emergency rule over rising political tension.
The state government or the River state police command is yet to comment as of press time.
