Bomadi Council Tackles Flooding Crisis

The Chairman of Bomadi Local Government Council, Hon. Dagidi Rawlings Andaye, has announced plans to tackle the persistent flooding issues affecting the area.

He was joined by Vice Chairman Chief Powei Guembe Bekes, Secretary Mr. Famous Ofurobiri, and Head of the Environment Department Mrs. Dirime-ere Talbort on a recent assessment of flood-prone regions on September 18.

During the inspection, officials identified illegal obstructions and indiscriminate refuse dumping as significant factors contributing to the ongoing flooding.

Warri Sentinel understands areas like Bomadi Library Road, Donbraye, and Winners Chapel were assessed by the Council.

Hon. Andaye emphasized the need to remove structures obstructing water channels, stating that any buildings hindering water flow will be demolished during the upcoming drainage clearance operation.

He called for stricter enforcement of environmental regulations to restore the free flow of water and address silt buildup.

Other measures announced include the demolition of obstructive structures, drainage clearance and strict environmental enforcement.

The Bomadi council boss urged residents to avoid dumping waste in drainage systems and refrain from building on water channel.
