Big Warri Gets Electricity for the First Time
The Delta State Government has approved a new electricity project that will bring power to Ode Itsekiri, Orugbo, and three other nearby communities for the first time.
The project, which will connect the communities directly to the national electricity grid, was approved during a recent meeting of the state’s Executive Council.

Ambassador Dr Toyin Agbolayah, Special Adviser to the Governor on Community Development, praised the decision, calling it a major achievement for the Itsekiri people. He said it is the first time in over 500 years that their ancestral land will have electricity.
Agbolayah also thanked Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for his leadership, pointing out that this project, along with the new roads and bridges being built in the area, will help bring more development to the region.
No official timeline for the completion of the electrification project has been announced.
