Anambra PDP Gov’ship Candidate Hospitalised After Abuja Attack
Jude Ezenwafor, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate for the upcoming Anambra State election, was shot on Friday night in what appears to be an assassination attempt in Abuja.
The attack happened around Wuse 2 as Ezenwafor was heading home from an appointment. He was shot alongside two others and is currently hospitalised in a private medical facility in Abuja, where doctors are preparing him for surgery to remove bullets from his body.
Ezenwafor, a well-known real estate developer and the PDP’s sole candidate for the November 8, 2025, election, described the experience as traumatic. “I’m still in pain. The doctors are trying to stabilise me for surgery,” he told journalists briefly from his hospital bed early Saturday.
The identities of the attackers remain unknown, and the motive behind the shooting has yet to be determined. Police are said to have launched an investigation, although the FCT Police Command has not issued an official statement. When contacted, spokesperson SP Josephine Adeh said she had not received any report on the incident.
Party insiders say the development could throw the PDP’s campaign plans into uncertainty, depending on the severity of Ezenwafor’s injuries and how long his recovery takes.
