Agbolayah Hails Legacy of Late General Paul Omu
The Special Adviser to Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on Community Development, Amb. Dr. Toyin Agbolayah, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of General Paul Ufuoma Omu, a distinguished elder statesman, retired military officer, and community leader. General Omu, who passed away on April 29, 2025, at the age of 84, leaves behind a remarkable legacy of service to the nation and his community.
Throughout his illustrious career, General Omu held numerous high-ranking positions, including Military Governor of the now-defunct South Eastern State, Director General of the Nigerian Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies, and a member of the Armed Forces Ruling Council. More recently, he served as President General of the Isoko Development Union (IDU), a role in which he worked tirelessly for the advancement of the Isoko people.
In a tribute, Dr. Agbolayah said the late General was a pillar of strength for his community and a patriotic Nigerian whose military service was marked by integrity and honor. He noted that General Omu’s contributions to Nigeria’s growth, both as a military officer and community leader, were far-reaching and will never be forgotten.
Dr. Agbolayah extended his condolences to General Omu’s family, especially his wife, Senator Chief Mrs. Stella Omu, their children, the people of Igbide Kingdom, and the entire Isoko community. He praised the late General for his selfless dedication to public service and his unyielding commitment to the welfare of his people.
Dr. Agbolayah also urged the people of Igbide, the Isoko nation, and all Deltans to find solace in the enduring legacy left by General Omu’s decades of service and sacrifices.
