INEC Convenes Meeting of Warring PDP Factions

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has convened a reconciliation meeting with the two rival factions of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at its headquarters in Abuja.

The meeting brings together representatives of the Tanimu Turaki-led faction and the Abdulrahman Mohammed faction, which is backed by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

Turaki arrived with members of his National Working Committee, party secretariat officials and former Niger State Governor, Babangida Aliyu, while Mohammed was accompanied by members of his national caretaker committee, including its secretary, Senator Sam Anyanwu.

The outcome of the meeting is expected to determine the next steps in resolving the leadership crisis within the opposition party.
