NRC Halts Port Harcourt–Aba Train Service Over Safety Concerns

The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has suspended operations on the Port Harcourt–Aba route, citing safety concerns due to the need for routine maintenance.

In a statement on Friday, NRC Managing Director, Dr. Kayode Opeifa, said the decision was a precautionary measure aimed at ensuring safe and reliable service delivery.

Normal train services are expected to resume on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, with the corporation apologizing for the inconvenience caused to passengers.

The NRC assured commuters that its teams are working swiftly to complete the maintenance within the scheduled timeframe.
