Police Intercept Cocaine Hidden in Bulbs, Recover Gun in Delta
Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have intercepted 490 grams of suspected cocaine concealed inside energy-saving bulbs along the Onicha-Ugbo/Ewohimi Road during a stop-and-search operation.
Police spokesman Bright Edafe said the discovery was made on April 13, 2026, when officers searched a commercial Sienna bus heading north. The exhibits include the suspected cocaine and a small quantity of cannabis, reportedly being transported to Abuja.
In a separate operation the same day, police also recovered a pump-action gun with three live cartridges in Ughelli, linked to an ongoing murder and cultism investigation. The firearm is connected to the January 15 killing of one Alex Adanike, while the suspect abandoned the weapon upon noticing police surveillance.
Edafe added that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspect as investigations continue.
