Youth Leader Confirms Calm in Ubeji following scuffle with Ekpan youths
The Youth Chairman of Ubeji Community in Warri-South Local Government Area, Delta State, Odonghanro Bomele, has denied reports of unrest in the community.
In a telephone interview with our correspondent, Mr. Odonghanro assured that Ubeji remains peaceful, noting that the issue that arose was minor and has been resolved.
Tension reportedly started today when some youths from the neighboring Ekpan community in Uwvie Local Government Area allegedly confronted Ubeji youths at the Ubeji junction as they reinstalled a congratulatory banner for the ongoing 3rd coronation anniversary of the Olu of Warri Kingdom.
According to an eyewitness, Justice Afor, Ekpan youths had previously stopped Ubeji youths from reinstalling the banner on Thursday, August 22nd, after it had been vandalized by unknown individuals.
Soldiers stationed at Ubeji junction reportedly stepped in quickly to prevent the situation from escalating.
The Delta State Police Command and the youth leader of Ekpan community have not yet commented at the time of this report.
