Woman Arrested For Burning Teenage Househelp With Hot Metal

Police in Edo State have arrested 31-year-old Abigail Oluwarotimi for allegedly inflicting severe burns on her 15-year-old house help, Jude Joseph with a hot metal. The assault left the minor with serious burns to his lap and genital area.

According to a police statement on Monday, January 13 via X, Oluwarotimi used the metal object to inflict injuries after accusing the boy of molesting her children.

Expressing his dissatisfaction, the Edo State Commissioner of Police, Umoru Ozigi, ordered that the case be transferred to the state criminal investigation department for further inquiry.

Under Nigeria’s Violence Against Persons (Prohibition) Act 2015, Oluwarotimi could face up to five years in prison if convicted for the alleged crime.
