President Bola Tinubu has dispatched Vice President Kashim Shettima and his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, to the United Kingdom to oversee the repatriation of former President Muhammadu Buhari’s remains to Nigeria.
Buhari died on Sunday in London at the age of 82 after a prolonged illness.
In a statement issued by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Tinubu confirmed Buhari’s passing and disclosed that he had spoken directly with the former First Lady, Mrs. Aisha Buhari, to extend his condolences on behalf of the nation.
As part of the official mourning, Tinubu has directed that all national flags be flown at half-mast for three days, symbolizing a nation united in grief.
