FG Declares Tuesday Public Holiday to Honour Late President Buhari
The Federal Government has announced Tuesday, July 15, 2025, as a public holiday in memory of former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari, who passed away on Sunday in London. This declaration was made official in a statement by Magdalene Ajani, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior.
This holiday is part of a week-long national mourning period ordered by President Bola Tinubu, honoring Buhari’s contributions to the nation. The statement emphasized the solemnity of the occasion and encouraged all Nigerians to observe the day respectfully.
Buhari is set to be laid to rest on Tuesday in his hometown of Daura, Katsina State. The burial will follow Islamic rites in keeping with his faith and traditions.
