Warri Wolves and Rangers Move Up the NPFL Standings with Big Wins
Warri Wolves took full advantage of their home game to secure a 2-0 win over Katsina United at the Southern University Stadium in Ozoro. After a quiet first half, the Wolves came out stronger in the second. Igbunu Evwierhurhoma scored just two minutes after the break to put them ahead. Chisom Orji then doubled the lead in the 51st minute, sealing the victory for the home side. With the win, Warri Wolves moved up to 8th place in the NPFL standings with 30 points.
Meanwhile, Rangers International pulled off a dramatic 2-1 win against Kun Khalifat FC in a tense Oriental derby at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri. Kun Khalifat took the lead just before halftime with a goal from Chidozie Iwundu in the 44th minute. But Rangers didn’t give up and equalized in the 87th minute thanks to James Ekebuike. In stoppage time, Iwundu scored again, securing all three points for Rangers. The win pushed them to 5th place in the standings with 33 points, while Kun Khalifat stayed at the bottom with 18 points.
