Warri South LGA Approves ₦18.3 Billion 2026 Budget

Warri South Local Government Area has approved its 2026 budget, taking a key step in planning the council’s finances for the year. The signing took place on Monday, February 23, 2026, and was carried out by council chairman Comrade Agbateyiniro Weyinmi Isaac.

The budget, called the “Budget of Renewed Hope for More Agenda,” totals ₦18,368,874,566.84, slightly higher than the ₦17 billion initially proposed to the legislative arm. Although the full breakdown of allocations has not been released, the budget focuses on development projects and better services for residents of Warri South.

When presenting the proposal to councillors in December 2025, Chairman Agbateyiniro said recurrent spending was set at ₦8.49 billion, while capital expenditure was ₦8.52 billion. The plan aims to balance everyday council operations with new projects in infrastructure, agriculture, environmental services, and community programs.

The signing ceremony included senior council officials, such as Vice Chairman Rt. Hon. Kingsley Edafiadjebre and Legislative Leader Rt. Hon. Joy Ejumudo. The council expects the budget to support education, healthcare, and public services, helping to improve living standards for people in Warri South.
