Tinubu Removes IGP Kayode Egbetokun, Appoints AIG Tunji Disu
Nigeria’s Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has been replaced, with Assistant Inspector-General Tunji Disu stepping in as the new police chief, a presidency source told reporters on Tuesday.
The source confirmed the appointment but said an official statement from the presidency would follow shortly. “AIG Tunji Disu is the new IGP. Confirmed,” the source added, stressing that the information had been verified.
Efforts to reach the Police Force Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, for comment were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.
Officials are expected to release further details about the leadership change soon, including the timeline and reasons behind the reshuffle.
