Warri-South Ex-Chairman, Tidi Defects from PDP to APC
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State has suffered a major blow as its leading figure, Michael Ejueyitsi Tidi, officially left the party for the ruling All Progressives Congress.
Dr. Tidi, a former two-term chairman of Warri South Local Government and one-time state secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, joined the APC alongside his supporters at a well-attended event held along Esisi Road in Warri.
Addressing party leaders and supporters, Tidi said his move was driven by unity and shared purpose, stressing that he came to strengthen the APC, not to create division. He described the APC as his political home and pledged full commitment to the party’s success in Delta State.
He praised the leadership style of the current Warri South council chairman, Agbateyiniro Weyinmi Isaac, and expressed confidence in the APC’s future. Tidi also acknowledged the role played in his political growth by former Delta State governor Ifeanyi Okowa.
Welcoming him, Delta South APC Chairman, Austin Oribioye described Tidi as a valuable addition to the party and formally handed him over to the Warri South APC chairman, Richard Pessu, who assured him of full rights and privileges.
Pessu later directed that Tidi be registered at his ward in Edjeba.
Reacting to the defection, Comrade Agbateyiniro Weyinmi Isaac said the move marked the effective end of opposition politics in Warri South, describing Tidi’s decision as bold and timely, while assuring him and his supporters of equal treatment within the APC.
