Warri Leaders Call for Calm Amid Rising Tensions
Local Government Chairmen from the Warri Federal Constituency have urged youth groups across the region to embrace peace and avoid violence, following a high-level stakeholders’ meeting held earlier today in Warri.

The meeting, convened at the Governor’s Annex, on Tuesday, May 20, brought together Weyinmi Agbateyiniro of Warri South, Festus Ashima of Warri North, Sylvester Oromoni of Warri South West, and Ovoke Warri of Isoko South. Representatives from the Itsekiri, Urhobo, and Ijaw ethnic groups were also in attendance.
The gathering aimed to reaffirm the government’s commitment to maintaining law and order across Warri and its environs.

“We will not tolerate any form of breakdown in law and order,” said Hon. Agbateyiniro, underscoring the administration’s zero-tolerance stance on unrest.

His Warri North counterpart, Ashima, also called for calm. “Peace at all cost is cheaper than war. We must be deliberate about preaching peace to our followers.” Ashima stated.
The Warri Area Commander, ACP Graham Imade, also addressed the meeting, urging all parties to remain law-abiding. He assured stakeholders that security forces remain on high alert to maintain order.

Representatives from the three ethnic nationalities welcomed the intervention, pledging to take the message of peace back to their respective communities.
