Warri Group Protests INEC Ward Delineation in Abuja

The Warri Reclamation Thrust, an Itsekiri advocacy group, is currently protesting at the INEC headquarters in Abuja, calling for the correction of alleged discrepancies in the recent ward and unit delineation exercise in Warri Federal Constituency, Delta State.

The group has accused INEC of breaching its own guidelines and conducting a flawed exercise that could distort electoral representation.

Earlier this month, the group alleged that INEC based the delineation on assumed voting strength rather than the official register of eligible voters. In a graphical presentation held on Wednesday, June 17, in Warri, members Bright Omaghomi and Tsaye Edeyibo Mene cited “14 violations” they claim were committed during the process. Using Google Earth and official maps from Shell and Delta State, they argued that the delineation misrepresents the area’s demographics.

As the protest continues in Abuja, the Warri Reclamation Thrust insists that electoral fairness begins with accurate representation. They warn that failure to act could further erode public trust in the electoral process and heighten tensions in the affected communities.
