Violence Rocks APC Meeting in Sapele as Thugs Attack Omo-Agege Support Group
A meeting of a pressure group aligned with Ovie Omo-Agege turned violent in Sapele, Delta State, after suspected thugs stormed the gathering, leaving one person injured, property destroyed, and millions of naira reportedly stolen.
The disruption occurred on Monday during a meeting of members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), highlighting growing internal tensions within the party in the state.
Eyewitnesses said the attackers invaded the venue (identified by one member, Lucky Yemide as his father’s compound) where they tore down canopies and smashed chairs, forcing participants to flee for safety.
During the chaos, the assailants allegedly made away with about ₦5 million that had been set aside for meeting logistics. One attendee was also stabbed twice and later taken to hospital for treatment.
Accounts from those present suggest the attack may have been carried out by rival factions within the same party.
The host, Lucky Yemide who spoke after the incident, identified one of the alleged attackers as Innocent Temienor, claiming he led the operation. He further alleged that those involved were also members of the APC, pointing to deepening divisions within the party’s local structure.
Victims recounted the incident and expressed shock over what they described as betrayal from within their own ranks.
The group has vowed to report the matter to security agencies, calling for a full investigation and justice for those affected.
The incident underscores rising factional rivalry within APC chapters in Delta State, particularly among supporters linked to Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege, former Deputy Senate president and influential figure in Delta Central.
As of the time of filing this report, there has been no official statement from law enforcement authorities regarding arrests or ongoing investigations.
