Transforming Lives in the Niger Delta: The Quiet Work of Ade Mabo
In the riverine communities of the Niger Delta, where access to basic services remains a challenge, Ade Mabo’s Roli Mabo Foundation is quietly making a lasting difference. Over the past several years, the foundation has established healthcare centres, provided clean water, and supported education and vocational training, reaching tens of thousands of people across Delta State.
Since 2020, the foundation has:
- Built healthcare centres in Jakpa and Ugbege, offering free medical treatment to thousands
- Delivered clean water to communities including Orere and Daleoketa
- Sponsored vocational training for more than 100 youths in Warri South, covering skills such as welding and tailoring
- Transformed a former bunkering site into a large-scale farm in Ugbolaja, opening new agricultural opportunities

Most recently, the foundation opened a healthcare centre in Ubagboro to serve eight Ijaw and Itsekiri communities. It also brought internet connectivity and solar power to Bateren Tie community and renovated Timi Primary School in Ajide. Other projects include donating a school boat to Ayangbene’s Ijaw community and improving water access in Ilaje and Ejo family compound communities.
Ade Mabo, a Harvard-trained strategist and entrepreneur, prefers to work quietly and without government ties. His personal motto, “Kind people are our kind of people,” reflects his commitment to helping those often overlooked.
Despite a minimal online presence, Ade Mabo’s impact has been widely recognized. He has received awards such as the Royal Order of Iwere from the Olu of Warri, a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Warri Film Festival, and honors from the Federal University of Petroleum Resources and the UN Sustainable Development Goals team.
Through the Roli Mabo Foundation, Ade Mabo is proving how focused private philanthropy can bring hope and tangible improvements to Nigeria’s riverine communities, inspiring others to follow suit.
