Tinubu Commends Edo Governor Over Landmark Flyover Project
President Bola Tinubu has praised Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo for initiating the state’s first flyover project, describing it as a major step towards modernising Benin City’s transport system.
Represented by Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, the president said the one-kilometre bridge at Ikpoba Hill was a sign of strong leadership and vision. He said the 24-span structure, built with reinforced concrete, would endure for decades and reduce traffic congestion in the city.
Mr Umahi contrasted the quality of the project with delays often seen in some federal contracts, saying state-led infrastructure frequently achieved faster results. He added that accountability and durability must guide Nigeria’s public works going forward.
Governor Okpebholo thanked the president for his support and said his administration was rebuilding Edo after years of infrastructural neglect. He promised continued investment in projects that directly improve citizens’ lives.
