Tinubu Celebrates Port Harcourt Refinery Revival, Urges Reactivation of Warri and Kaduna Refineries

President Bola Tinubu has congratulated the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) on the successful revival of the Port Harcourt refinery, with petroleum product loading officially commencing on Tuesday,November 26, 2024.

In a statement released by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President (Information & Strategy) the President acknowledged the efforts of former President Muhammadu Buhari in kickstarting the rehabilitation of Nigeria’s refineries and expressed gratitude to the African Export-Import Bank for its support in financing the project.

He commended NNPCL Group CEO Mele Kyari for his leadership in overcoming challenges to achieve this milestone. He called on the company to accelerate the reactivation of the second Port Harcourt refinery and the Warri and Kaduna refineries.

The President emphasized that these efforts would boost domestic refining capacity, complement the contributions of private refineries, and position Nigeria as a key energy hub. He also reiterated his administration’s commitment to enhancing energy security and increasing export capacity.

Tinubu stressed the importance of integrity and accountability in rebuilding Nigeria’s infrastructure, urging all stakeholders to remain focused and uphold public trust.
