Three Killed, One Injured in Tanker Accident In Warri
A tragic accident on the bridge between Ubeji and Ifiekporo along the Trans Warri Ode-Itsekiri Road in Ifiekporo community of Warri South Local Government Area, Delta State, has left three people dead and another in critical condition.
According to an eyewitness who spoke to Warri Sentinel News, the incident occurred on Friday, March 28, when the driver of the tanker attempted to navigate a bad section of the road. In the process, the tanker collided with a motorcycle that was trying to switch to the opposite side of the road, tragically killing a woman and her two younger children.

The family was reportedly returning from school at the time. The motorcyclist, who was also involved in the accident, fled the scene with his bike unhurt. There were indications the motorcyclist’s passengers fell before he could completely maneuver from the speeding tanker.
The oldest child of the deceased is currently receiving medical treatment at the Ogiame Ikenwoli hospital in nearby Ubeji community.

In response to the tragedy, the Warri-South Local Government Chairman Oritseweyinmi Agbateyiniro, on Saturday March 29, paid a condolence visit on the bereaved father who residents identified as a local pastor of the Redeemed Christian Church. Agbateyiniro also visited the surviving child at the hospital to express his sympathy and support during this difficult time.
However, Warri Sentinel can confirm that the tanker driver has been arrested and detained at the Warri Divisional Police Headquarters after narrowly escaping a lynching attempt by angry youths from the community. Oil Depots in the area have remained closed as residents mourn the loss. The community is calling for improved road conditions to prevent such accidents in the future.
