Nigerian Boxer Dies After Fight in Ghana

A former National and West African light-heavyweight champion, Segun ‘Success’ Olanrewaju has tragically passed away after collapsing during a boxing match in Ghana on Saturday, March 29.

The 40-year-old Nigerian boxer was competing against Ghanaian Jon Mbanugu at Fight Night 15 of the Ghana Professional Boxing League, held at the Bukom Boxing Arena. A video circulating on social media shows the moment Olanrewaju lost consciousness in the ring.

Despite efforts to revive him, Olanrewaju later succumbed to his injuries, marking a devastating end to his career. Reports suggest he was leading on points at the time of the incident.

Olanrewaju, who had 24 professional fights, secured 13 wins, 8 losses, and 3 draws.
