Super Eagles Coach Steps Down
Austin Eguavoen has stepped down as head coach of the Super Eagles on September 10, Warri Sentinel has confirmed.
The interim manager disclosed he had accomplished his task that was limited to two matches.
“I have been given a mandate to handle two games. I am very pleased with the boys, and thanks to the NFF,” he mentioned.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) appointed the technical director as the temporary coach after the organisation’s unsuccessful attempts to secure a permanent head coach for the national team.
During his short time in charge, Eguavoen guided the Super Eagles in two crucial 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying games against Benin Republic and Rwanda.
In those matches, Nigeria secured a 3-0 victory over Benin Republic but were held to a goalless draw by Rwanda on Tuesday, September 10.
