Speed Up Repair Work on Benin-Asaba Highway -Gov Oborevwori to Contractor
Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori has called on the federal contractor responsible for rehabilitating sections of the Benin-Asaba highway to hasten their work.
Speaking through the State Commissioner for Works, Charles Aniagwu, the governor highlighted the severe difficulties motorists have faced due to the highway’s deteriorating conditions.
Aniagwu noted in a press briefing at Ezenei Junction in Asaba today September 26, that the issue had been a significant concern for the governor.
“Governor Oborevwori has been very much disturbed about it and you may also recall that before now he had asked me to come and see what we can do with a view to making it motorable for our people.”
He explained that although the highway rehabilitation was under a federal contract, efforts to push the contractor to commence repairs had been ongoing.
Aniagwu confirmed that the contractor had sourced materials from Benin and is still awaiting additional supplies from Auchi. He assured that equipment would be deployed once sufficient materials were available.
The commissioner appealed to motorists for patience as efforts to address the highway’s deplorable condition continue.
Aniagwu emphasized that resolving the issues on the highway would significantly improve access to the eastern region and relieve traffic congestion on internal roads.
