Shehu Demands World Bank Apology Over Loan Disbursement Delay, Threatens Legal Action

World Bank

Political commentator Madhi Shehu has called on the World Bank to apologise to Nigerians over alleged delays in the disbursement of approved loans to the country.

In a statement shared online, Shehu warned that failure to do so could lead to a class action suit at what he described as the “World Court of Justice.”

Shehu claimed that Nigeria remains a “serial willing borrower” while the World Bank is a “serial loan giver,” arguing that the delay in releasing approved funds could negatively affect the country’s economy and the comfort of citizens.

He further stated that if legal action is eventually filed, Nigeria’s Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Lateef Fagbemi, would lead the defence team, adding that there would be “no room for out-of-court settlement.”
