FG Orders Mandatory Drug Tests in Secondary Schools
The Federal Government has rolled out tougher measures to tackle drug and substance abuse in secondary schools across the country, including compulsory drug testing for students and temporary suspension for learners who repeatedly test positive after undergoing treatment and rehabilitation.
As part of the new directives, all students seeking admission into secondary schools will now undergo mandatory drug integrity tests during the admission process.
The policy is contained in the National Implementation Guidelines Against Drug and Substance Use in Schools in Nigeria for secondary schools, a copy of which was obtained by our correspondent.
The guidelines provide a broad strategy aimed at curbing the increasing rate of substance abuse among students while promoting safer and healthier learning environments in schools nationwide.
