SEPLAT

Six hundred and twenty-three teachers and education inspectors from Edo and Delta States have completed the 2026 Seplat Teachers Empowerment Programme (STEP), an initiative of the NNPC Exploration and Production Limited/Seplat Energy Joint Venture. The graduation ceremony, held in Benin, marked another milestone in efforts to strengthen classroom delivery through technology-driven instruction and leadership development.

The training equipped participants with digital competencies, critical thinking skills and modern pedagogical techniques tailored to today’s learning environment. Organisers charged the educators to return to their various schools with renewed purpose, applying innovative methods that can improve student engagement and outcomes.

Government representatives at the event linked the programme to ongoing reforms in Edo and Delta, noting that teacher quality remains central to sustainable education growth. They urged the graduates to see themselves as reform drivers capable of influencing standards beyond their immediate classrooms.

Education commissioners from both states applauded the partnership behind the initiative and encouraged beneficiaries to extend the knowledge gained to colleagues within their school communities. The ripple effect, they noted, will deepen the impact of the programme across the region’s education sector.
