Senator Natasha Accuses Akpabio of Using Immigration to Seize Her Passport
Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of Kogi Central has alleged that Senate President Godswill Akpabio directed Nigerian immigration officers to confiscate her international passport at the airport, stopping her from travelling abroad. A facebook live video on Tuesday shows the lawmaker confronting immigration officials after her passport was withheld.
In the video, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan lammented what she called an ongoing effort to restrict her movement, claiming the same incident had occurred previously without any legal justification. She said officers informed her that the order came from Akpabio, who accused her of damaging Nigeria’s image through interviews with international media. The senator urged authorities to end what she called continuous harassment and intimidation.
As of press time, the Nigerian Immigration Service and the office of the Senate President had not commented on the allegations.
