Senate President Akpabio Demands Justice for 16 Killed in Edo State
Senate President Godswill Akpabio has condemned the brutal killings of 16 travelers in Uromi, Edo State, last Thursday, describing the incident as “senseless” and “unacceptable.” He has called for swift justice and a thorough investigation into the killings.
In a statement issued on Monday by his Special Assistant on Media, Jackson Udom, Akpabio expressed his deep shock and outrage. “I am deeply saddened and disturbed by the gruesome murder of these 16 travelers in Edo State. This senseless act of violence has no place in our society,” he said.
The victims, believed to be from northern Nigeria, were killed by a suspected mob in Uromi. Akpabio condemned the attack, urging authorities to bring those responsible to justice. “I strongly condemn this heinous act and urge the authorities to ensure the perpetrators are held accountable for their actions,” he added.
Akpabio also called for unity and peace across the nation, stressing that acts of violence like this should never be tolerated. The Senate President extended his condolences to the families of the victims and to the people of Edo State.
The killings have raised widespread concern about security in the country, with many Nigerians calling for stronger measures to address rising violence. Authorities have promised to thoroughly investigate the crime and bring the perpetrators to justice.
