SDP Expels El-Rufai, Bans Him for 30 Years Over Party Violations

The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has expelled former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, and banned him from participating in party activities for the next 30 years.

The party’s National Working Committee said the decision aligns with its constitution and is meant to preserve its values and identity. The ban prevents El-Rufai from applying for membership, using party symbols, or supporting any SDP-related activity.

El-Rufai, who joined the SDP after leaving the APC, has recently aligned with an opposition coalition backing the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2027 elections.

The party warned members not to associate with El-Rufai or others who do not represent its interests.
