Sapele LGA Lifts Movement Restrictions on Keke, Okada Riders
The Sapele Local Government Authority has lifted operational time limits for tricycle (Keke) and motorcycle (Okada) riders, following a security assessment and consultations aimed at improving safety and boosting economic activity. The announcement was made in an official circular signed by the Secretary of the Local Government, Hon. Raymond Overah.
Under the new directives, all riders must wear reflective numbered vests, Okada operators are barred from wearing face masks, and all tricycles must display their VIO registration numbers prominently. The council warned that violators will be sanctioned.
Hon. Overah said the removal of the restrictions does not weaken ongoing security efforts but is intended to support transport workers while maintaining order in the LGA. He urged operators to follow traffic rules and cooperate with security agencies.
The updated regulations took effect immediately on Thursday, November 13, 2025.
