Sapele Council Chairman Freed After Kidnap Ordeal
Hon. Okakuro Bright Afure Abeke, Chairman of Sapele Local Government Area, has been released days after he was kidnapped.
Abeke was taken on April 10, 2026, when armed men invaded his hotel, Debrofred, on Owumi Road in Sapele, Delta State, around 7:25 p.m. The attackers reportedly exchanged gunfire with security personnel before taking him away.
According to eyewitness accounts, the gunmen arrived in a Range Rover and shot a vigilante member, Ufuoma, along with another individual, before fleeing the scene with the council chairman to an undisclosed location.
